A (peach)Tree Grows in Bayonne

Submitted by ktfinklea on Saturday, May 24, 2008.

Strapped for outdoor space around their Upper East Side school, the boys of the Browning School habitually venture out of the classroom to share in the vibrant green spaces New York City has to offer. One sunny Wednesday, I had the opportunity to accompany them on a different kind of outing. Thanks to Jonny Dubowsky of Rock 'n Renew and two very cool science teachers, the fifth grade class of Browning got to escape the island of Manhattan and venture into the “wilds” of Bayonne, NJ where some exciting new prospects in Urban Ecology are blossoming.

Every year in Austin, TX a huge gathering of music, film, and media fans assemble for a little thing called South by Southwest. We're at the festival celebrating all things green and celebrating with GOOD Magazine and the Hotel San Jose.

If you're near Austin and want to check out a great event, come to Choose GOOD Austin at the Hotel San Jose. We'll be there tomorrow 12-9pm with a great line-up of bands, an Etsy DIY station, Silk screening by Forward Collective and East End Ink, and the GOOD Photobooth.
