NRDC's New "Your Oceans" Map!

As has long been promised, the new NRDC "Testing the Waters 2007" report has been released. And while a ItsYourNature summary is yet forthcoming (the thing ain't short!), it's well worth noting that this year we've gone above and beyond and built a real fancy map to complement the report. The "Your Oceans" Beachgoers Water Quality map features water health and safety data for 100 of the country's most popular beaches.

Charge it on the go

Forget the car, charge your iPod as you book it down the beach on the barefoot express. Plug your car charger into your tote, put your bag towards the sun, and you’re ready to go. You don’t have to worry about sitting too far from the outlet when you’re running on solar. The bags are made locally in the US by a company that swears by sustainability, so we think they’re really cool. We also think the bags are a great excuse to ditch your car while simultaneously repurposing your car chargers.

Hit the Beach

In once simpler times, the summer beach vacation stood for all that was mindless and fun. A true getaway in the most fundamental sense--slather on some sunscreen, shut down the brain, pick up a trashy novel, and lounge with nary a care in the world. At the risk of reverberating buzzkill, it must be noted that these are "simpler times" no more.
